TOBY AI Copilot


TOBY AI Copilot is provided as part of the workspace and requires no additional configuration. Ask a question in natural language, or open Copilot from a specific page so it can use the current object, accessible workspace data, and enabled capabilities for analysis or content generation.

Copilot is designed for immediate tasks initiated by the user, helping them use the workspace's data query, analysis, and content creation capabilities efficiently and accurately.

Get Started

Select the TOBY AI icon in the platform's top navigation bar. The Copilot drawer opens on the right. You can open it from any page and continue navigating or working in the platform during the conversation. Select the icon again to collapse the drawer.

The top of the drawer also provides an entry to TOBY Agent Teams.

The Copilot drawer supports these common actions:

  • New conversation: Select + to start a conversation without the context of the current session.
  • Conversation history: View, continue, or manage earlier conversations.
  • Expand or restore: Expand the drawer to full screen for complex content, then restore its default width.
  • Close: Collapse the drawer while keeping the current conversation.

Conversation History

Copilot saves conversation history so you can continue an earlier analysis. Select the history icon at the top of the drawer to view conversations ordered by their latest update time.

From the history list, you can:

  • Open a conversation and continue with its existing context;
  • Rename a conversation so it is easier to identify later;
  • Delete a conversation you no longer need.
Note
  • Conversation history is isolated by workspace and user and is visible only to the current user.
  • Conversations are retained for up to 30 days and are removed automatically afterward.

Quick Questions

When you open Copilot for the first time or start a new conversation, it displays quick questions such as:

  • What can you do?
  • Introduce the platform's core capabilities.
  • Summarize the latest alert for me.

Quick questions help start a conversation. For a specific task, add the target, time range, and expected result. Instead of only asking Copilot to "take a look," ask it to "analyze the current error trace and identify the most likely failure point, impact scope, and next investigation steps."

Capability Overview

Copilot capabilities are organized into four groups:

Data retrieval DQL / PromQL assistance and natural-language viewer search. Turn natural language into query statements or filters, lowering the learning curve for DQL, PromQL, and viewer syntax while improving data retrieval efficiency.
Resource generation Dashboard creation and modification and Pipeline rule generation. Generate dashboard drafts and Pipeline parsing rules from business goals and workspace metadata, reducing repetitive configuration and work that would otherwise start from scratch.
Knowledge services Platform note creation and product documentation Q&A. Organize analysis results into reusable notes and retrieve operational guidance from product documentation, reducing the effort required to document, find, and share knowledge.

The completeness and accuracy of Copilot analyses and generated content can be affected by the site version, deployment configuration, user permissions, current page context, and the completeness of collected observability data. Review key conclusions against source data and the actual environment, and complete any necessary validation before taking follow-up action.

Usage Recommendations

  • To analyze an object, open its detail or list page before opening Copilot. This reduces repeated context and keeps the analysis within the current filter scope.
  • State the goal, time range, and expected output. For query or configuration generation, also provide the data domain, representative samples, and important constraints.
  • Copilot only uses data and capabilities available to the current user. When data, permissions, or required context are missing, the result describes the limitation; do not treat an unverified conclusion as confirmed.
  • Review generated queries, configurations, and remediation suggestions before using them in production. Resource creation still follows the permissions and save actions of the corresponding module.
