Query Code Input¶
The query code input area is used to write data query statements for charts, detection metrics, and view variables. Long queries can be scrolled vertically within the input area; input areas with an expand icon support continued editing in a larger window, making it easier to modify multi-line content.
Applicable Entries¶
The following editable multi-line query areas support expansion:
| Entry | Query Type |
|---|---|
| Scenarios > Dashboards > Create or Edit Chart | DQL, PromQL, external data source queries |
| Metrics > Metrics Analysis | DQL, PromQL, external data source queries |
| Monitoring > Monitors > Create or Edit | DQL and PromQL queries available for detection metrics |
| Scenarios > Dashboards > Add or Edit View Variables | DQL, PromQL, external data source queries |
Expand and Return¶
Click the expand icon in the upper-right corner of the input area to modify the query in the Edit Query window; after completion, click the close icon or press Esc to return to the original input area.
After returning, the edited content remains in the original input area. Finish querying, validation, and saving on the page to which it belongs.
The DQL and PromQL editors preferentially use Esc to handle completion candidates, selections, or multiple cursors; after handling, you can press Esc again to return.
